PERSONALITY TRAITS REQUIRED TO BE A BUSINESS COACH
Every profession comes with a list of skills you need to cater to and so does being a business coach.
Can anyone be a business coach?
The answer is a yes and a no.
Yes if you have already have the required traits imbibed in your genetics; also if you are willing to build those if they do not occur naturally.
It is a no if you do not have these traits and certainly do not put in effort to get them right.
What does it take to be a business coach?
Here it goes
Humble: A good coach never follows the ‘know-it-all’ attitude. Knowledge lies in knowing that you do not know enough and are here to learn. A good coach has no shame in learning from the client and improving along the way. Do not force your advice. Instead, learn, understand and act.
Supportive: Be it little problems or huge ones a good business coach will always support a client. The coach won’t consider the client’s problem insignificant and will stand by through thick and thin.
Compassionate: A good coach genuinely understands what a client is going through. Staying kind is one important character a coach carries along. Resorting to threats and scare tactics is not the chosen method of getting work done.
Good listener: To be compassionate, humble and supportive one needs to listen and listen diligently. It is hence necessary for every business coach to be a good listener. Listen not just to hear but to understand.
Excellent Communicator: To make any task possible one needs to send the right message across. It is hence very important that a business coach communicates rightfully. There is no room for misinterpretations here.
Embrace these positive traits. Enhance the ones you already hold and work on cultivating the ones you don’t have. They are the key to being the ideal business coach.
